Blue Fern in Classic and Modern Styles

Hello dear scrappy friends!
Svetlana Austin here with my June projects.
This post is my last one as a design team member for this amazing company.
It was such a big honor for me to serve this term on the very first design team
together with so many amazingly talented ladies.
But I am surely not saying good bye to any of them or to all the pretty chipboard pieces from BFS.
I will be more than happy to continue using it in my projects.
Now let's see what I have for you today.

My first projects is an altered vinyl record.
Here I used the gorgeous Floral Clock chipboard piece.
It is no surprise that this beautiful design so quickly became very popular with so many of you.

To "dress up" the clock I painted it roughly with gesso leaving some areas raw.
Then I stamped it lightly and rubbed some areas with blue liquid pearls.

My next project is a decorated wooden canvas with mixed media touches.
It is very bright and really happy looking.
It is quite small in size - only 8'' by 8''.

Most of the time I start with a layer of gesso on my chipboard pieces.
Here I added a little bit of yellow paint patches on the title word and the Damask Flourish, which I cut in two pieces. I also applied liquid pearls to the Damask Flourish for extra color and shimmer.

Good Vibes

I will finish off with a layout in a completely different style.
I made a very bright and modern double pager using some little chipboard pieces from Widgets and Urban Acronyms packs.

Here you can see one of the layouts a bit closer.

Some of the chipboard pieces I painted with acrylic dubber paint and some I left raw.

Two Layouts by Kelly Foster

Hi everyone - Kelly here! So glad you have stopped by..I have two layouts to share, and I'll just get right to it!

A Beautiful Day

I created this layout, taking photos from one of the first days of spring we had here, and wanted to create an earthy but springy-vibrant page. I used one of the Organic Vine Corners, and I cut it in two, to place opposite one another in my clusters. I love how the one below the photos sort of mimic's my daughter's hair blowing in the wind! I dabbed various inks onto the chipboard using a sponge, and then added a touch of a textured medium to give it more dimension.

Below you can see the other half, which was treated the same way.

Below I have used one of the gorgeous Regal Ornaments, to which I applied the same techniques above, then tucked under my flower cluster.

Cherished

On this layout, I have used just one piece of chipboard, but it is what I think of as a "statement piece" in that it is just SO beautiful and really added something awesome to my page. The Bordeaux Layered Frame is two pieces, so it can have a really dimensional look.

The technique on this frame, well it was all a big experiment, and this is the result of layers and layers of "trying this and that." I simply painted the back panel of it white with gesso so that the ornate part would really stand out. I then did some embossing, painting with multiple colors of spray mist, dabbing with gesso where things got too dark, then repeat, until I got what I was going for! I also wrapped a bit of jewelry wire around the left side of the frame.

I love that even though my background and embellishments are quite "busy," this beautiful frame piece really draws the eye to the photo.

Thanks a bunch for stopping in today!! Have a wonderful day!

A Comfy Cozy Kitty, a Picture Wheel, and an Upcycled Wall Hanging

Grab your Monday morning beverage. I hope you enjoy this Blue Fern Studios Blog Post today. Lisa here, with 3 new projects for your viewing pleasure. With the warmth of Summer around the corner, I hope June brings you much inspiration from Blue Fern Studios.

My first Project is a 12x12 layout. This was inspired by our Sketch this month. Don't forget to join the June Sketch Challenge.

I used a cracklepaint directly on the chipboard daisies. Once the paint dried, I enhanced it further with a darker ink that bled into the cracks.

I painted the Vintage key with distress crackle paint. Once dry I hung the keys on the chain using small jump rings.

I love the chain. The set comes with 2 pieces. I used the curved piece as shown in the sketch. I painted it wit crackle paint, and added some oval trunkets to match the shape of the chain link.

This next project is a picture wheel that I created and wound some great silly pictures of my daughter mounted on a diecut filmstrip.

To keep the filmstrip wound round the reel, I tied it with some twine.

I heat embossed distress powder over the butterflies on both sides as you can see the underside when I folded the wings up for dimension. . The branch was inked with distress ink, cut apart, and tucked into the flower cluster.

I found the Urban Words set to be so much fun, and perfect for these silly photos of my daughter as the words are integrated in her everyday language.

I opted to use the insides of the chipboard and save the other pieces for another project. Sometimes you throw away the cutout pieces, in this case I used them for this project.

I used a distress ink with a foam applicator and rubbed it over the chipboard.

The last project I want to share with you is little  wall hanging I created using the throwaway parts of a couple of products. The little wooden box that once held wooden shapes, and the background paper was once the packaging back of a pack of flowers.

The gate was heat embossed with some distress powder, and I went over it twice to create a rusty old gate effect, rubbing some of the powder off after it dried.

I tucked some flowers, a tiny birds nest, and punched out butterflies into the little shadow boxes.

Here is another view of the sweet little wall hanging that now hangs in my scrap studio wall.

Thank you for visiting Blue Fern Studios today. Come back for more inspiration on how to adore your chip board. I will be back on the 3rd of each month with a new blog post and more inspiration for you.
I would like to take this opportunity to bid a fond farewell to some of the current Design Team Members that are finishing up their term this month. It was a pleasure getting to know some of you, and a pleasure working with old friends, and glad to call you all my friends. I wish you all creative joy in your journeys as Scrap Artists.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to the new Artists commissioned to the team. I look forward to getting to know you all.
