A Trio of Tattered Walls - Megan Gourlay

Hi Everyone :)

Today as the title says, I have three layouts to share with you using the new Tattered Walls Collection.  This collection is fabulously versatile to use!

I played with some mixed media colours in the background of The Carport patterned paper, and a little random stamping before adding my embellishments and photo.  For my title I used one of the pieces from the new Ephemera packs - Sweet - and trimmed off the word Moment from the chipboard phrase Love This Moment.

To colour my chipboard I embossed the Glam Frame with Snow embossing powder, and the Honey Bits pieces with Sparkling Navy embossing powder.  I wanted the Glam Frame to surround my photo in the background but it wasn't quite large enough, so I simply cut it into four pieces, so that it just pokes out, and doesn't over take the photo.

Some sprinkles of Lavender Seedlings here and there, completed the page.

My second layout uses The Garage piece of patterned paper.  In the design of this paper there is a seam down the page and I used this as my starting point.

The background this time is very simple, just random stamping with archival ink using a couple of different stamps.

My title is taken from two different pieces.  The left over piece from the previous layout - Love This - and from the 2 piece pack of Family Memories, I took the word Memories and trimmed off the S.  Both pieces were then covered in  Glitter.  To make the word Memorie stand out more I inked the top half in black archival ink.

A couple of tags and photo frames from the Ephemera pack popped out the side and some twine threaded through, layered with chipboard pieces added further dimension and interest.

Chipboard this time was either glittered with Blue Ice Glitter, embossed with Sparkling Navy, or coloured with rust pastes to mimic the colours in the paper.

Some of the lovely Wanderlust Lillies - Im so addicted to these beautiful flowers! - and some more seedlings sprinkled over the page, finished it off.

My final layout today uses the The Maids Room and the B side of Apartment B ;)  You can see three layers of paper but there is only two pieces used, I just used the back and front of The Maids Room. I really didn't want to detract from the beautiful floral graphic, so there is no stamping, mixed media or seedlings on this layout.

I even used chipboard from a previous collection, and fussy cut the floral clock cluster from the packaging, tucking it into my ripped layers.

Theres those beautiful Lillies again ;)  The chipboard this time is roughly painted and then inked around the edges.  The little flourish was trimmed off one of the hearts in the Eclectic Hearts pack.

In between the layers of paper I popped some distressed muslin and some of the beautiful BFS lace.

April Inspiration - Megan

Hi Blue Fern Fans :)

Today I have two layouts to share with you, and one storage solution :) and for each project Ive used a different collection.
I recently found this photo hiding in my photo stash and had to use it; my wee Dougal <3 when he was a puppy peering over the temporary gate - he's 14 now!
This project uses two pieces of Optimistic from the new In the Mood Collection.

To create the background I have cut several of the 'diamonds' from the second piece of paper, inked the edges with a grey ink pad and popped them up with foam dots.  Ive also splattered pink and white paint over the page, and randomly stamped with grey ink.  The heart at the centre of the title has been painted pink and then covered in glitter.

I used two different chipboard designs, one to enhance the focal point of my photo and the other to give extra depth and interest to the page.  Each piece uses a different embossing powder which helps separate each piece from the other.

Printed chipboard is so versatile, here Ive just taken two of the printed chipboard pieces and layered them on top of each each, and Ive also used the circle pieces to help pop the photo up, giving more depth, and leaving just enough out for extra embellishment.

My second project uses two more cute boys ;) and this time the Wanderlust Collection.  The paper I used is Memento.

This time my background was created by spreading clear gesso over it and when dry spritzing with water and using different powders.  Again I have randomly stamped all around my composition.

Layers beneath the photo were created using the Calling Cards, and popping chipboard scraps between the layers.  A little chipboard can go a long way - I had one piece of Printer Bits left - I chopped this into three pieces, layering each piece on top of the Circle Groups chipboard.  The filmstrip was also a scrap piece left over.

Here you can see the depth created by all the layers.

The chipboard was embossed with Hot Cocoa and Wheat embossing powders.  The Beaded String and the filmstrip were coloured using rust pastes.

For my third and final project I wanted to create something to store my bottles of seedlings, embossing powders and glitters and I found the drawers at our local Warehouse.   This time I used the Remnants Collection.

Highgate patterned paper was used to cover the sides and the top of the drawers.  The white and grey woven pattern on the drawers was already there, I just covered the drawer handles with glitter.

To give the butterfly dimension, I sprayed it with water and curved the wings while wet.  When it was dry it was simply painted.

The berries on the end of the leaves I dipped in seedlings - they look like grapes!

The flourish underneath the cluster was from the Printed Chipboard set - this was simply painted to match the overall colour scheme.

January Inspiration with Megan

Hi Everyone! Im very excited to begin 2108 with a new team, and one of my favourite scrapbook companies :) :), so to kick off heres a few things about me.

I live in the South Island of New Zealand, which also means its Summer here :)  I live just outside of Christchurch with my husband Forbes and our two dogs, Dougal and McKenzie, and I work part time as a Registered Nurse.  Ive been scrapbooking for awhile now and in that time I have cultivated quite the passion for fussy cutting, flowers and chipboard.  Hmmmm, and paper!  ;) I hate getting messy! but I love dabbling in mixed media - its a bit of a love hate thing lol.

Anyway, here are my projects for this month.
The first layout I have for you is a photo Ive put off using for a while - I just couldn't decide what to do with it.  And then I saw the Remnants collection and I had a plan!

To create the background I used rust paste with a stencil, then watered it down to create paint splatters. I used three different stamp sets in the background as well - Christmas Collage, Label Frames, and Tattered Newsprint.

To alter the chipboard, I used different techniques - crackle paint to the clock faces, black archival ink to the cogs and Mushroom Embossing Powder to Printers Bits chipboard - these pieces I also inked slightly with black ink and randomly stamped on.

Ive created three layers to page, popping each layer up with scraps of chipboard.

For my second layout I also used the Remnants collection, but this time I wanted a more feminine look to the page.  I used two pieces of patterned paper from the collection, Mayfair and Bloomsbury, and utilised both sides of the papers to create the different layers you see. I also used the Printed Chipboard that comes with the collection for accents.

I loved the glittered look to the new embossing powders Wheat and Night Sky,  they are just stunning in real life!  I also used some mauve seedlings sprinkled in the background.

Again I have lots of layers in this layout, four in total.  Ive split the chipboard frame in half giving two frames, and layered the chipboard phrase on top - Ive split this also so I can place it exactly where I wanted it and you can't even tell it was all joined together initially :).

For the background, this time I used a mixture of colours splattered over the page, gold, white and mauve.  Ive used the Remnants Collage stamp for the background.

My final project is a wooden letter for a friends little girl - S is for Sadie :). I used a piece from the Frolic collection, fussy cutting some of the decorative elements from the paper to use in my cluster.

I have again used a variety of stamps, this time with grey ink - Tattered Newsprint and Arcadia Textures.  The Eclectic Hearts chipboard I gave some dimension to by using an embossing folder, and then Pink Embossing Powder.  The Mini Flourish chipboard pieces were embossed with Pearl Embossing Powder.
